Year 3

Supreme, 1996

In 1996, Supreme continued it's rise within the New York City skate community. Under the visionary direction of James Jebbia and a small design team, Supremes' iconic box logo continued to become an emblematic symbol of urban cool. Jebbia's eye for design and penchant for small release batches ensured that those who acquired them would be limited, making the number of these pieces still around today far and few between. At the time, Jebbia claimed that he "just didn't want to be stuck with clothes no one wanted".

Supremes 1996 collection kept with it's formula of taking inspiration from pop-culture as well as curating a number of unique designs. Supreme also scored their first collaboration with a major shoe brand, Vans. They would go on to do yearly collaborations, and eventually be acquired by the Vans Corp in 2020 for over $2 Billion.
